How To Use The Bottle In An Emergency Situation:

1) Treat water using Aquatab: You can empty the bottle of its contents, fill it full with fresh water (from a stream or pond) and drop in 1 Aquatab, which effectively kills Giardia, bacteria, and viruses. You may want to pre-filter the water using the bandana if it has a lot of sediment in it. Wait 30 minutes before consuming. If you have another bottle or cup, pour the treated water into it before drinking to minimize potential contamination (such as from the lip of the bottle).

2) Treat water by boiling: If you have a metal cup, you can start a fire and boil the water to treat it, which effectively kills Giardia, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. The general Rule of Thumb is, backed by the CDC, “Big Bubbles No Troubles for 1 whole minute.” Allow it to cool before consuming. You may pour cooled water into your bottle and repeat the process until you have enough water.
