A must-see in the Black Hills, Spearfish Falls is a stunning 80-foot waterfall nestled in Spearfish Canyon. This easy out-and-back trail, located near Roughlock Falls, offers a short but rewarding hike to a breathtaking natural wonder.

Trail Description: Your journey to Spearfish Falls begins at the Latchstring Restaurant. Park on the west side of the lot, near the restrooms, and locate the trailhead. The trail plunges into Spearfish Canyon with a series of steep switchbacks, offering enticing previews of the creek and surrounding forest. Reaching the canyon floor, you'll cross a footbridge spanning Spearfish Creek. A short walk from there brings you to the foot of the magnificent 80-foot Spearfish Falls, a truly awe-inspiring cascade. Several strategically placed benches offer ideal vantage points for photography, a quick snack, or simply soaking in the beauty of this natural wonder.

Trailhead: Spearfish Falls Trailhead
Parking: You can park in the west lot, by the Latchstring Restaurant or in the dirt lot across from the restaurant, off of Highway 14A.
Facilities/Amenities: Restrooms are available at the trailhead. Multiple benches are located along the trail and at the base of the canyon, including two with direct views of the waterfall. Latchstring Restaurant is also conveniently located near the trailhead and is a great place to eat after your hike.

Steep Sections: The trail includes some steep switchbacks, particularly at the beginning or end of the hike depending on the trailhead access point you select.
Crowds: This is a popular destination, so expect crowds, especially during peak season (summer).
Overlook: An overlook providing views of Spearfish Falls is accessible behind the Latchstring Restaurant.
Private Trail: A connector trail exists on the east side of the falls, but this is private property and is not open to the public. Please respect private land and stay on the designated trail.
